By , July 22, 2024

Seven teams have confirmed their place in the KSSSA National Schools Football games, set to be held in the Nyanza Region.

Kiringari Boys Secondary School from Central Region will be returning to the Nationals after their appearance in the 2023 Nationals held in Kakamega.

KSSSA Nationals returnes

Last year, Kiringari Boys were crowned champions, beating Kiaga Secondary School 4-0 in the final at Kagumo High School in Nyeri County on July 22, 2023. This year, they retained their title and will be the only school returning to the Nationals.

They will be joined by Musingu School from Western Kenya. Musingu, coached by Brendan Mwinamo, an alumnus of Kakamega School who won the titles in 2017 and 2018 with Kakamega, will be chasing the title. Musingu Boys were crowned Western Schools Regional Boys Football Champions after narrowly defeating Munyuki Secondary 2-1, reclaiming a title they last won 19 years ago.

The team was led by Anan Okumu, the younger brother of Harambee Stars defender Joseph Okumu. However, Musingu’s journey was marred by controversy when their semi-final match against Kibabii Secondary at Bungoma High School was abandoned after fans stormed the field, angered by a red card issued to their defender.

A new Nairobi region champion will be crowned in the Kenya Secondary School Sports Association boys’ football on Saturday after Dagoretti High School relinquished their title following a 1-0 defeat by Olympic Mixed Secondary School in an exhilarating semi-final clash staged at Jamhuri High School.

Raynold Amara’s second-half goal stunned the regional giants, setting up a final clash against 2022 champions Highway Secondary School. Despite an early offside goal, Highway Secondary clinched the title by beating Olympic Secondary.
