Kisuna’s team triumph in KCB regional golf tourney

The team of Phylis Kisuna, J. Jesang, J. Cheruiyot, and J. Kisuna emerged victorious at the 13th leg of the KCB East Africa Golf Tour held at Kitale Golf Club, scoring a combined 157 points.

They outperformed their closest rivals, N. Shah, P. Kusimba, M. Wekhomba, and A. Kidiavai, who scored 147 points, securing the second position in a field of over 100 players.

This win earned both teams a coveted spot in the Pro-Am grand finale event scheduled for November 24th at the Karen Country Club, where they will compete alongside 11 other qualifying teams.

After the award ceremony, an elated Kisuna expressed her gratitude, saying, “When I woke up today, I prayed for the tournament and the sponsors. I feel proud to be part of this winning team and we cannot wait to represent Kitale Golf Club in the grand finale.

“Now, it is time to work even harder and prepare for the competition that will bring together the best golfers in the country.”

In the individual categories, Edwin Ruto claimed the overall victory with an impressive 44 stableford points, while Michael Chege secured the men’s winner award with 43 points. In the women’s category, Everlyn Cherop excelled with 43 stableford points, earning her the lady winner title.

The awards for the longest drive went to Philip Shiharsy in the men’s category and Sarah Otolo in the ladies’ category, while Ken Matonya took home the nearest to the pin award.

Scola Onsongo was recognized as the staff winner with 34 stableford points, and Lazarus Kemei won the guest winner award with 35 stableford points.

Looking ahead, the KCB East Africa Golf Tour will continue with its 14th leg at Machakos Golf Club on October 7th as the grand finale draws closer.
