Defending champions Kisumu Day (KD) boys’ football team ran riot with a resounding 9-0 victory over Muhoroni Secondary during the ongoing Kisumu County Secondary Schools Ball Games in Kisumu City.

Meanwhile, East Africa Schools Games 2024 second runners-up, Nyakach Girls, thumped Magadi 12-0 in a goal fest on Day Two of the high-octane tournament.

Fresh from edging out Kasagam Secondary School 1-0 on the opening day of the Term Two county games, Kisumu Day mercilessly dismantled Muhoroni in front of a packed Moi Stadium crowd.

Kisumu Day began their onslaught early, with Bavone Donald opening the scoring in the 8th minute after a blistering move that sent vuvuzelas and whistles blaring from fans who had thronged the stadium from estates such as Ondiek, Arina, Manyatta Arab, Posta, Patel Flats, Kaloleni and Makasembo.

Four minutes later, Ngolobo Kante added the second, latching onto a low pass from attacking midfielder Joseph Otieno. Prolific striker Emmanuel Ochieng’, fondly known as “Manu” among Kisumu Day supporters, netted the third in the 17th minute, sending the stadium into deafening celebrations.

Kibet fired in the fourth in the 25th minute from a Nicholas Odhiambo cross, before Manu returned to the scoresheet with a fifth goal just moments later after slicing through Muhoroni’s defence.

He would complete his brace in the 55th minute.

Braiden Simidi added the seventh in the 60th minute with little opposition from the overwhelmed Muhoroni side. Kibet then grabbed his second (Kisumu Day’s eighth) in the 76th minute, before Owino sealed the rout with a ninth goal in the 83rd minute.

Earlier, in a separate match against Olembo Boys from Nyakach sub-county, Kisumu Day won 2-0.

In their girls’ category outing, they also humbled Migingo Girls 7-0.

In the girls’ football contest, Nyakach Plateau Queens overwhelmed Magadi Secondary 12-0, before marching on to thrash Migingo Girls 7-0 in their second match of the day.

Elsewhere, Kisumu County’s 2024 second runners-up, Agai Mixed beat Lela Secondary 4-0, while Ngere Secondary overcame Muhoroni 2-0. Ahero Girls settled for a goalless draw against Migingo.
