Kenyan volleyball sides set to renew rivalry in Kenya Cup quarters

Kenya’s elite women’s volleyball clubs are set to renew their rivalry on the courts as the Kenya Cup Women’s Volleyball quarterfinal clash goes down this Saturday, July 5, 2025, at the Nyayo National Stadium Indoor Arena.

The game will not only present the chance for bragging rights with the coveted prize at stake, but also the rare chance for revenge for teams that clashed in the concluded Volleyball National Playoff that saw Kenya Pipeline Volleyball Club emerge the winners.

The Geoffrey Otieno side has earned a bye in the competition quarters and will start the clash in the last four.

Last four

Among the clubs battling it out for a spot in the last four are the 2025 KVF National League playoff finalists, the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), under coach Joel Sang.

Kenya Prisons and minnows Kenya Defence Forces and Post Bank will also feature in the showdown.

Meanwhile, to ensure a smooth transition of the event, the Kenya Volleyball Federation has urged the participating teams to ensure the timely submission of their official team entry lists.

“This is a kind reminder to all teams participating in the 2025 Kenya Cup Quarter Finals to submit their official team entry lists by today, Wednesday, July 2, 2025,” KVF said in a statement.

In the released fixtures, DCI will play against the Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) as Prisons face off against the Kenya Army in another clash.

Malkia Strikers star Pamela Adhiambo has called on fans to come and witness the clashes.

Witness action

“I’m foreseeing a tough battle this weekend, especially heading to the semifinals stage. It will all be happening this Saturday for the women’s team, and I urge all the fans to turn out in large numbers and witness the action,” Adhiambo said in her pre-match sentiments, as quoted by KVF.

Other than the newly signed star who is due to link up with her Croatian club, Meldina Sande of Kenya Police VC will also feature in the clash for her former team, Kenya Prisons Queens.
