Kenya Morans eye glory away from home in Zambezi Challenge 7s
By Joel Masibo, October 31, 2025The Kenya Rugby Union (KRU) has announced that the Kenya Morans will fly out to Harare, Zimbabwe, in the coming week to take part in the Zambezi Challenge Sevens set to take place from Saturday, 8, to Sunday, 9, November 2025.
Straight from finishing third in the 2025 edition of the Safari Sevens that took place on home soil at the Nyayo National Stadium from Friday, October 10, to Sunday, October 12, 2025, in Nairobi, the Morans are set to test themselves on away territory.
Morans to fly out
Some of the teams that will take part in the competition include Zimbabwe, who are expected to field their main team and a second side, Zambia, Botswana, and South African franchise outfits.

Speaking ahead of the tournament, Kenya 7s head coach Kevin Wambua welcomed the opportunity as he revealed the team’s targets for competing.
“We are building from the Safari 7s, and the preparations have been good. The priority over the last two weeks has been based on performance from Safari 7s and how we can build from it. The boys have responded well so far, and the objective is to give them confidence in their abilities and a little bit of tactical and technical upskill. The tournament is more about the team than an individual player,” Wambua noted.
Morans faced Zimbabwe twice at the 2025 Safari 7s and beat them on both occasions. They first picked up a 27-7 win in the group stages before completing the double with a 19-0 win that secured a third-place finish. The team is expected to fly out of the country on Thursday, with the squad to be named in the days to come.
