Kenya beat Malawi by 67 runs in the ongoing Kenya Quadrangular Series Cup at Sikh Union Grounds yesterday, securing their third consecutive win.

The host team set a formidable target of 220 runs after their first innings closed at 219-7 within the allotted overs.

Rushabh Patel, scoring 75 runs off 37 balls, was named Player of the Match for his outstanding performance at the crease.

Kenya won the toss and chose to bat first.

During the match, Kenya lost two players, Shem Ngoche and Sukhdeep Singh, to ducks courtesy of Sammy Sohail in the latter stages of their innings.

Kenya had a solid batting performance, with Captain Rakep Patel contributing 42 runs off 18 balls, including five boundaries, before being dismissed by Sohail in the 15th over.

Opener Neil Mugabe scored 33 runs off 16 balls, and Sachin Bhudia (23 runs off 23 balls) and Jaspreet Kundi (21 runs off 10 balls) also made valuable contributions to the run rate.

In the bowling department, Sohail took three wickets, while his colleague Aaftab Limdawala claimed two wickets.

In the second innings, Malawi’s Sohail starred again as an opener, scoring 81 runs off 55 balls and forming a crucial 81-run partnership for the third wicket.

His innings included six boundaries and four sixes. All-rounder Limdawala remained unbeaten with 54 runs off 37 balls.

However, Kenya’s fielding proved decisive as they slowed down Malawi’s chase. Despite their efforts, Malawi could only manage a total score of 152-4 after their allotted overs. Oluoch took two wickets in the innings for Kenya, while Ngoche and Vraj Patel also secured a wicket each.
