Speaking from Senegal, team captain Munyao expressed pride in representing Kenya: “It was a great opportunity. From day one, even after the losses, we kept pushing. Winning the third-place game against Algeria was a huge boost and showed us that Team Kenya can achieve even more.”

Similarly, Otieno reflected on the journey: “For eight years, we hadn’t participated in youth games, but that’s changed now. We started with the U-18 tournament in Uganda, then the Under-16 in Tanzania, and now here in Dakar. Our win over Africa’s top-ranked Algeria proves our team selection and preparation were on point.”

He further noted that a technicality cost them their opening game against Senegal, which should have gone to overtime.

However, he emphasized that winning bronze in their first 3×3 tournament showed promise for Kenya’s basketball development: “We’re committed to continued scouting and preparation, and I’m confident our efforts will pay off in future tournaments.”
