Harambee Stars players are set to report to camp on Wednesday, June 19, 2024, in preparation for the 2024 COSAFA Cup, which will take place in South Africa from June 26 to July 7, 2024.

Assistant coach Kennedy Odhiambo has assembled a squad featuring both junior and senior players as Kenya gears up for its second appearance in the tournament, following their debut in 2013 where they were eliminated in the group stages.

Kenya fixtures

Kenya will kick off their campaign against record seven-time COSAFA winners and defending champions Zambia on Thursday, June 27, 2024, at the Nelson Mandela Stadium, with the match starting at 6:00 pm.

Their second Group B fixture will be against Comoros at the Wolfson Stadium on Sunday, June 30, 2024, with the match set to kick off at noon.

The final group match will see Harambee Stars face Zimbabwe, who are also returning to the tournament after a three-year absence, on Tuesday, July 2, at the Wolfson Stadium, also slated for a noon kickoff.

Regulations

The group winners and the best second-placed team from the three groups will advance to the semifinals. The Group C winner will face the Group B winner, while the Group A winner will take on the best runner-up.

To determine the best runner-up, the following criteria will be used; the team with the higher number of points obtained in group matches, superior goal difference, and if still tied, fair play points (based on yellow and red cards) will be considered.

Participating teams must trim their squads to 23 players and are allowed up to seven officials, including coaches and medical personnel. Coaches must hold a CAF Pro, A, or B license, while assistant coaches can have a Pro, A, B, or C license to be on the technical bench.

Extra Time and Penalties:

There will be no extra time in the semifinals or the third-place play-off, with tied matches going directly to penalties. The final, however, will feature two 15-minute periods of extra time if needed, and if still tied, the winner will be decided by penalties.
