Kenya 7s skipper Vincent Onyala has been named in the Madrid 7s Team of the Tournament, as announced by World Rugby.

Onyala led Kenya to a crucial 33-15 victory over Germany in a qualifier match, securing their spot in the series.

The qualifier match against Germany was a rematch of a previous clash in Munich, where Germany had previously defeated Kenya.

Germany started strong with Chris Umeh scoring in the left corner within the opening minute. Kenya quickly responded with a try from Onyala, which was converted to make the score 7-5.

Kenya faced a setback when Chrissant Ojwang received a two-minute suspension for a high tackle, allowing Germany to take a 12-7 lead. However, Ojwang redeemed himself by scoring a try upon his return, tying the game at 12-12 at halftime.

In the second half, a pivotal try under the posts by John Okoth helped Kenya secure the win and their promotion, holding off a resilient German side.

Onyala is joined in the Dream Team by Spain’s Juan Ramos, who played a crucial role in helping Spain retain their position as a core side. Argentina’s Matteo Graziano, who participated in the Grand Final, is also included in the forwards list.

France capitalized on a yellow card against Los Pumas Sevens with two second-half tries, pulling away from their opponents, whom they had already lost to in the pool stage.

The game ended with a red card for Rodrigo Isgro due to an illegal tackle.
