Kayci Odhiambo speaks on wearing many hats for Ingwe
By Luke Oluoch, May 17, 2025AFC Leopards midfielder Kayci Odhiambo has revealed that he does not have a preferred playing position, as he declared his readiness to help his team in whatever role he is deployed.
The towering midfielder has been arguably Ingwe’s most versatile player, having worn many hats for the club by featuring in multiple positions across the midfield and attack in the season.
As any other team, Leopards has grappled with the need to change players, occasioned by injuries and players’ suspensions, with the midfielder’s versatile nature coming to display.
“I have played in the midfield as number 8. There have been occasions I have played as a number six, eight, and also as a five, and even as a 10. Actually, I have a favourite position; as long as I’m on the pitch playing, I’m content,” he told People Sports.

Kayci, who rose to fame through the Extreme Super Eight League with Makadara Junior League (MJL), was, however, coy on laying down his season target.
Three goals
With only three games left on the AFC Leopards’ calendar before the season concludes, a modest Kayci opined that he will not pass up any chance to score if it comes in the remaining games.
“I have scored three so far. I cannot reveal the targets I hope to attain. If I can score ten more, the better. What I can promise is I will take any scoring chances that come my way,” the midfielder, who bagged his third league goal against Mathare United, added.
Other than the goal in the 3-1 win over Mathare United on Wednesday, May 11, 2025, Kayci’s previous league goals came in February as Fred Ambani’s boys reaped important wins.
The versatile ace scored for Leopards against City Stars on February 2, 2025, as Ingwe claimed a solitary goal win.
He got his second later in the month in a 2-1 win over Mara Sugar, where he dispatched the decisive last-gasp penalty, and also has a goal in the MozzartBet Cup.

His comments came after his captain, Lewis Bandi, laid out Ingwe’s quest for a spirited finish to the league.
In a past interview with People Sports, Bandi said the team hopes to build on the momentum gained and end the season on a high.
“It feels good to get such results as we head towards the end of the league. We have the desire to see that we end the league better, and this result goes hand in hand with that target,” Bandi said.
Ranked sixth on the log with 45 points, Leopards will next travel to Mombasa to face Bandari on Sunday, May 18, 2025.
The clash at Mbaraki will kick of at 4:00 pm.
