Kakamega Homeboyz drawn against Libyan side in CAF Confederation Cup

FKF Cup Champions Kakamega Homeboyz have been drawn against Libya's Al Hilal SC Benghazi in the first round of CAF Confederation Cup.

Should they progress beyond the first round, Kakamega Homeboyz will encounter another challenge against Rayon Sports from Rwanda.

Kakamega Homeboyz history

The club earned their spot in the prestigious tournament after securing a historic victory in the 2023 Football Kenya Federation Cup.

They defeated heavyweights Tusker 1-0 in a thrilling showdown at the Moi International Sports Complex, Kasarani Stadium, on Saturday, July 1, 2023.

Kevin Amwayi's crucial goal in the second half sealed the triumph for Homeboyz, making it their first-ever major title win.

The CAF Confederation Cup draw has produced intriguing matchups for other teams as well. Some of the notable fixtures include Bendel Insurance from Nigeria taking on Algeria's ASO Chlef, FUS Rabat of Morocco facing Benin AS Loto FC, and Casa Sports from Senegal going up against Burkina Faso EF Ouagadougou.

Other clubs alongside Kakamega Homeboyz

The anticipation is building as Arta Solar from Djibouti prepares to meet Somalia Horseed, while Singida United of Tanzania braces for a clash with Zanzibar JKU.

Bahir Dar Kenema from Ethiopia is set to challenge Tanzania Azam, and Olympique Béja from Tunisia will take on Libya Abu Salim.

Sekhukhune United, representing South Africa, is drawn against Eswatini Young Buffaloes, and Cano Sport from Equatorial Guinea will compete against Zambia's Maestro United. Ferroviário de Maputo from Mozambique will lock horns with Comoros Belle Lumière, while Gaborone United from Botswana faces Madagascar Elgeco Plus.

Other fixtures include AS Douanes from Mauritania against Guinea Académie SOAR, ASC Kara from Togo against Ivory Coast AFAD Djékanou, Milo FC from Guinea against Ghana Dreams FC, and AS Douanes from Niger against Sierra Leone Kallon.

Watanga from Liberia is paired against Mali Stade Malien, Hay Al Arab from Sudan against Burundi Aigle Noir, Haidoub from Sudan against South Sudan Al Merreikh Juba, and Académica do Lobito from Angola against Seychelles La Passe.
