Kakamega High cry foul after opponents Musingu acquire services of nine out of their 11 best players

The Scorpion of Musingu High has stung the Green Commandoes even before kicking the ball, snapping off nine Kakamega Boys’ key football team players to raise tensions between  Western region’s two celebrated footballing schools.

The nine players have been enjoying a free education scholarship courtesy of the Kakamega School’s  alumni and formed part of the starting line-up until December last year when the Scorpions coach Brendan Mwinamo approached and  lured them to Musingu High School on another football scholarships.

Kakamega School principal Julius Mambili has petitioned the Kakamega County Director of Education (CDE) and Teachers Service Commission to investigate the matter citing irregularities in the students transfer process.

Musingu High School principal Bernard Likuya defended the arrivals of the star players from the rival school claiming the students and their parents bolted from Kakamega school at the hour of need.

“When dealing with minors, parents have the final say on where a child would school,” he told People Sport.

Kenya Schools (KESSPA) sports rule 6 on students transferring from one school team to another shall not exceed two, if there are more, all shall not be eligible to play for the school for one year.

Rule 7, dictates upon the principal and coach to sign declaration forms that the players  presented are bonafide students of their school.  The forms should be submitted at county director of education.

Lukuya says he will not use the  ex-Green Commandoes players this season.  “We know the rules and we shall abide. Let Kakamega not draw you into this. All those  students are from Awendo Football Academy in Migori county. Their coach differed with Kakamega and Musingu came on to fill that void .”

Musingu has lately stoked Kakamega school football stability. First ,she lured  to it’s staple  ex- Green Commandoes coach Mwinamo  and three key players.

In the latest tiff, coming ahead of the Kakamega county tern two ballgames championships to be held in Mumuas next week, students/players  Braxton Ouma, Aston Walter, Emmanuel Marcus, Haustin Oluoch, Stanley Melon, Roney Ochieng and Maxwell Onyango are in the eye of the storm.

Kakamega school had given each student a 4-year soccer scholarship to study and play for the Green Commandoes FC, a school sponsored FKF Western  1st division  league club.

Early in the year, Musingu was adjudged for preying on a form one soccer player/ student admitted  St. Marys Yala school in Siaya county. Harambee stars international Michael  Olunga Foundation had offered the boy a scholarship. 

Musingu however preyed on the boy and lured him to the scorpions  den.“This case is similar to that of Yala school. The boys mother resolved it easily declaring  that her son will be here.,” Lukuya bragged.
