Kajiado FC appoint ex-Sofapaka assistant coach as head coach

Kajiado FC have appointed Francis Xavier as their new head coach ahead of the second leg matches in the National Super League.

The Kajiado-based side unveiled Xavier and his backroom staff on Friday, with Geoffrey Oputi as the assistant coach and Titus Mbatha as the second assistant coach.

In an official statement, the club expressed their excitement about the new coaching team.

“Dear Kajiado Fc Fraternity, we are extremely delighted to announce and unveil our new Head Coach Mr. Francis Xavier, former Mara Sugar Head Coach and Sofapaka Assistant Coach. Together with his assistant Coach Mr. Geoffrey Oputi and second assistant coach Mr. Titus Mbatha,” the club announced.

The club believes that Xavier, Oputi, and Mbatha bring significant footballing experience that will elevate Kajiado FC to the next level.

The statement concluded with confidence in the trio’s ability to lead the team forward.

“They bring with them immense footballing experience ready to take our able Kajiado FC to the next level. InshaaAllah,” the club revealed.

Xavier, a former midfielder, left his role at Mara Sugar as head coach in October to join Sofapaka FC as an assistant coach under Ezekiel Akwana.

About new Kajiado FC coach

Before that, he had served as an assistant coach at AFC Leopards and had previously led Mathare United in an interim capacity.

Kajiado FC currently face challenges in the 2023/24 campaign, having won only four matches, with three draws and eight losses in the first 15 matches of the National Super League. The team has scored 12 goals and conceded 21.

Xavier’s tenure begins with upcoming matches against Nairobi United and Migori Youth, with a reunion with his former employer, Mara Sugar, scheduled for February.
