Kabras stun Nondies as KCB outclass Monks in Kenya Cup Day 2 actions

Kabras RFC extended their winning streak in the new Kenya Cup season after beating Nondies 40-0 at the Impala Club on Saturday, December 9, 2023.

This represents Kabras’ 10th consecutive win over their top-flight rivals, and it is also a major boost as the campaign hits the second matchday.

This is a big loss for the Nondies, as they lost the opening game to KCB when they conceded a 45-8 defeat. Kabras, on the other hand, had an opening 72-0 victory over Kisumu RFC.

Meanwhile, Kabras started strongly, and as the first half ended, they had already scored three tries. George Nyambua scored the opening try, and a conversion by Ntabeni Dukisa ensured they enjoyed a 7-0 lead.

Lameck Ambetsa extended the margin to 12-0, but it would have been an even wider lead had Dukisa managed a successful conversion. The third try was scored by Nyambua, Kabras’ captain.

Nyambua and Dukisa were pivotal figures for the Sugar Millers, as they extended their lead to 26-0 just after the second half began.

The Kenya Cup giants continued with their dominance and scored through Collins Indeche before Dukisa added the extras for a 33-0 lead.

Substitute Griffin Chao was on the scoresheet as he registered his first try for the club. Kevin Wekesa, the man who set Chao for his debut try, also had a try before Dukisa converted the final one for a 40-0 victory, condemning the Nondies to a second straight loss in the season.

KCB register huge win

Meanwhile, KCB stunned the Catholic University of East Africa Monks in a match that was played in Karen to win by a 79-19 margin.

The Bankers were ahead by a 24-16 margin before the break and collected a whopping 40 points to go home with a healthy victory.

Samuel Omollo’s impressive output saw CUEA claim a 9-0 lead, but the visitors showed resilience and had tries from Peter Waitere and Festus Shiasi before the Monks went ahead again when Omollo crossed the try line for a 16-10 lead.

Two more tries before the halftime break from Andycolle Omollo and Griffin Musila gave the Bankers a 26-16 lead.

Whilte Mususi, Vincent Onyala, and Elvis Olukusi’s tries saw the visitors claim a five-pointer as the second half began, taking their lead to 44-19. Nick Okullo, Bob Muhati, and Austin Sikutwa registered tries, with Sikutwa converting to see the lead extended to 65-19.

Felix Ojoo and Levy Amunga scored more tries, with Sikutwa as the converter, for a huge 79-19 victory for KCB.
