Junior Maina Iraki Stars at NCBA Golf Series at VetLab
The sixth leg of the 2023 NCBA Golf Series took place at VetLab Sports Club over the weekend, marking a momentous occasion as the club celebrated its centenary milestone.
Despite the chilly morning weather, the event saw an impressive turnout of 252 golfers who showcased their skills and competed fiercely for top honors.
At the end of the play, it was home player Junior Maina Iraki, playing off handicap 6, who displayed remarkable talent and skills to emerge as the overall gross winner of the tournament with an impressive score of 76 gross.
In the Men’s gross category, Chrispine Owuor, playing off a handicap of 4, showcased exceptional golfing prowess to claim victory with a score of 76 gross. He beat Watson Burugu, playing off handicap 2, who secured the second position with an equally commendable score of 79 gross.
At the same time, Mary Karano, playing off handicap 12, stood out in the Ladies gross category, capturing the top spot with a score of 90 gross. Not far behind was junior golfer Navya Nagda, who demonstrated great skills by hitting 91 gross.
In the Nett Categories, Jane Wokabi, playing off handicap 26, secured the top position with an impressive score of 70 nett points. She beat handicap 35 Ann Njuguna, who secured the second position having managed similar scores as Wokabi.
Among the men, former legislator Musikari Kombo, playing off handicap 27, claimed the top spot in the Nett category with an impressive score of 66 points. Moses Kimutai, playing off handicap 23 secured the second position with an equally impressive score of 66 nett.
Meanwhile, the Juniors category saw Nathan Mwangi, playing off handicap 8, demonstrate his golfing prowess by securing victory with a score of 81 gross.
In other categories, junior golfer Nathan Mwangi and Ann Mwangi impressed once again by emerging as the winners in the Longest Drive challenge among the men and ladies, respectively. Vincent Landa claimed the Nearest to the Pin challenge, demonstrating remarkable accuracy in his shots.

Following the successful completion of the VetLab event, the series now moves to its next leg, which will be held on Saturday, 1st July 2023, at Karen Country Club.
