Its a learning curve at T20 cricket series says coach Otieno

Kenya women’s cricket team is a work in progress that still needs sharpening according to head coach Francis Otieno.

The national team is currently on a week-long Kenya T20 Quadrangular series played at the Nairobi Gymkhana.

Otieno said that based on the 30 overs they played against Uganda and Tanzania on Tuesday, his initial assessment was that there were areas of improvement.

“Based on the two games we have played so far in this competition, we can see where to improve so it is all about tweaking some areas. This is a good base to test our girls who have been out of action for a while. However, after our game today we will fix some issues, especially in our fielding department so that we can be more compact,” he said.

During an exclusive interview with People Sports on Tuesday, the former Kenya international warned that all teams in the tournament were capable of winning thus the importance of taking all matches seriously could not be underscored.

“Everybody is here to compete and so we have to respect everyone. All teams are equal and each game for us is about learning and improving.

We have young players who will consider this huge for them and an avenue to express themselves,” he added.
