In-form Kipsang extends win at Diamond League

By , May 23, 2022

World 1500m bronze medallist Abel Kipsang continued his sensational 2022 season by picking up his second win at the Birmingham Diamond League on Saturday night.

Kipsang went into the men’s 1500m as the world leader and he proved the best too, running 3:35.15 to triumph ahead of Spain’s Mohamed Katir (3:35.62) and Australia’s Ollie Hoare (3:35.76).

It continues Kipsang’s unbeaten season, following his 3:31.01 win at Kip Keino Classic at Kasarani a fortnight ago and victory in Doha last week.

Kipsang started the season with a bronze medal over the distance in the World Indoor Championships in Belgrade, Serbia in March this year.

“It feels so good to win again, I didn’t expect it. Special thanks to my coach for this opportunity. I look forward to the World Championships in Eugene,” said Kipsang.

He said his debut at the Olympic games has provided him with a solid foundation from which to pursue a first-place finish at the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham, England as well as the World Championship in Oregon, USA.
