Kenya’s national cricket team yesterday made it three wins in three at the ongoing Continental T20 Cup after walloping Botswana by eight wickets (extra 59 balls) at the Nairobi Gymkhana.
Former skipper Shem Ngoche was declared man of the match after his ball delivery heroics on the crease (3-22). Rushabh Patel (45 runs off 24 balls) was the top scorer for Kenya with his contribution including a double -boundary and a hat trick of sixes.
Kenya who fielded in the first innings of the game chased the target of 90 all out dutifully by posting their own 92 runs for the loss of 2 wickets.
Kenya’s Coach David Obuya who spoke to People Daily after the game told of good progress since the tournament begun. “I am happy with the boys and how they are implementing our ideas. So far it is three out of three and it means we are doing some things right. For us it is all about progression and of course this is a good process for the November ICC Qualifiers. We want to take a game at a time and also try and give all players in the unit a chance for game time.We have a game plan which is about balance plus each individual has a defined role. After the tournament,we will sit and regroup,” he said.
Kenya who lead the standings with six points have also won games against Rwanda and rivals Uganda to enjoy a net run rate in the table of 3.238. So far it is the only team to enjoy a perfect record.
Against Uganda Saturday,42 year old Collins Obuya continued to defy age with a staggering score of just four shy of a century as they restricted an out of sorts pearl nation on a score of 99 all out.
