Homeboyz Moses Shumah’s message to fans as he chases KPL golden boot
By Luke Oluoch, May 19, 2025Kakamega Homeboyz talisman Moses Shumah has relayed his gratitude to fans as he ramps up his hunt for the Football Kenya (FKF) Premier League’s Golden Boot for the 2025 season.
The Homeboyz striker moved clear of FC Talanta’s Emmanuel Osoro after netting his 17th goal of the season on Sunday, May 18, 2025, in a win over Kariobangi Sharks.
The goal placed him as a strong contender for the coveted prize, though the striker maintains that his emphasis lies on helping the team conclude the league on a high.
Francis Baraza’s side leapfrogged Shabana FC to fourth on the log, with Shumah attributing his form in front of goal to the collective efforts of his teammates.
Pushing the team
“First, I want to thank the fans for the support they have given me. I do not take it for granted. I know there are lots of expectations this season from me, and I just want to tell them I’m focused on the team run. My goals have been coming when I’m focused on pushing to contribute to the team. It’s what I’m focused on, and I know the goals will come,” he said in an interview with People Sports.
The striker, however, desisted from making promises on the target number of goals he wishes to hit at the end of the season.
“I feel it’s not in my position to state the number I want to reach. I’m not laying down any particular targets. As I said before, as long as the team is on a good run and winning, that is the most important, and I know the goals will come,” the lanky striker stressed.

Emmanuel Osoro, who failed to score in the Week 32 clash, maintained his spot at second with 16 goals.
The Talanta hitman on Wednesday, May 14, 2025, scored a brace to continue his fine run and hunt for the golden boot with a double against Tusker FC.
The performance lifted his season’s haul to 16, as he joined Shumah in dethroning Tusker’s Ryan Ogam’s extended stay at the helm of the league scoring.
Bandari’s Nyamawi Beja comes in at fourth after finding the net 12 times. Nyamawi is tied with Shabana FC’s dreadlocked star Byran Migiro, who netted his 12th goal on Wednesday, May 14, 2025, victory over Bidco United.

Francis Kahiro wraps up the stellar group of net-bursters on double digits for the campaign, having scored ten times for the Patrick Odhiambo-coached side.
Meanwhile, Sofapaka’s Edward Omondi stormed the league’s top ten scorers chart following a double against Tusker FC on Sunday.
Omondi’s double added to his seven goals to see the striker join Mohammed Bajaber and Gor’s Austin Odhiambo with nine goals in the campaign.
