Bandari midfielder David Sakwa acknowledges that his call-up to the Harambee Stars camp came unexpectedly soon.
The player was recently part of Kiminini Combined, a Division One team before joining Bandari FC as a mid-season signing. A few months after his FKF Premier League debut, he has been called up to the National team.
Harambee Stars surprise
Despite his surprise, Sakwa is delighted to have made it to the provisional squad.
“It feels great to be in the Harambee Stars camp. It’s my first time here, and I didn’t expect it at all. Receiving the call-up came as a pleasant surprise, especially so soon. I’m excited about the opportunity,” Sakwa expressed in an interview.
Sakwa is happy with the value of the coaching sessions under the guidance of Head Coach Engin Firat, noting the significant benefits he’s gaining from them.
“We’re being coached by someone with a lot of experience, and I’m learning new things every day. The training sessions are intense and beneficial,” he remarked.
Despite recognizing the tough competition that lies ahead in the Four Nation tournament, Sakwa remains optimistic about the team’s chances. He believes that emerging victorious in the tournament would be key for the squad.
” I understand that the competition ahead won’t be easy, but I’m optimistic that we can emerge victorious. Winning would be a significant achievement for us,” he added.
