Gor’s captain Otieno confident that team will bounce back

Gor Mahia FC have suffered a painful loss in the last two seasons that have left their fans greatly disappointed.

The 19 times Premier League champions are angling to start steady progress in their performance to get back on track according to Team Captain Philemon Otieno (pictured)

The record champions have closed their season with 55 points and are third on the log in the 2021/22 campaign. This is a far cry from the season where they were a disappointing eighth with 45 points in the bag; the worst performances of the Kenyan football giants in recent times.

Speaking to People Sport Otieno, who was awarded the captain’s armband five months ago, spoke of disappointment in the team but called for patience as they rectified the problems.

“Everybody knows the problems we have had internally and also the current situation of football management in the country which has affected us. It is not an excuse but losing key players like Kenneth Muguna, Frank Odhiambo, Harun Shakava and Abdul Karim due to financial problems and at the same time being hit with the transfer ban completely messed us up,” he said.
