FKF PL Week 9: High-flying Posta Rangers face Kakamega Homeboyz as Gor Mahia, Shabana clash
By Joel Sang, October 31, 2023The Football Kenya Federation Premier League enters week nine with eight games lined up for Wednesday, November 1, 2023.
Two matches will kick off early at 1:00 pm, with Bidco United hosting Muhoroni Youth at Kasarani Annex, while the other game will see FC Talanta play home to Nzoia Sugar.
United should feel rejuvenated going into their next game after fighting to collect a point from a goalless draw against Gor Mahia. The Premier League defending champions are the only unbeaten side so far, and for United to pick up a point from them is a morale-boosting outcome.
Mohoroni, with one win, five draws, and two losses, will be hunting for three points that will help them climb the ladder from their current 14th position.
Nzoia Sugar saw their winless run stretch to seven games after they conceded a 1-0 loss to AFC Leopards at Sudi Stadium in the last game, and facing Talanta, seventh with two wins, five draws, and a loss, is expected to be a tough match for the Sugar Millers.
AFC Leopards, Sharks to clash
After picking up their first win of the season, Ingwe will host Kariobangi Sharks at Ulinzi Complex in what promises to be a tight game given that both sides will go bare-knuckle in search of victories.

After starting the season on a rather good pace, Sharks have been slowed and are now fifth after three wins, three draws, and two losses. A defeat against Ingwe will not be a desirable outcome for the Eastlands side, who would want to close the gap with the leading pack.
On the other hand, Leopards will fight hard for a win in order to ease the pressure that has been building up since the season began. Head coach Tomas Trucha, who lost his first game when his side went down to Bandari, would hope for back-to-back wins in order to help rejuvenate his players’ spirits.
Bandari, who lost their last match to the league leaders, Posta Rangers, will host Police at Mbaraki Stadium in a match that will start at 3:00 pm.
Nairobi City Stars, who were last outclassed by KCB, will be up against Murang’a Seal, with the game set to begin 15 minutes past 3:00 pm.
Tusker, who saw off Sofapaka, will host Ulinzi Stars who were equally impressive as they registered their biggest win of the season when they dispatched Shabana 4-0. KCB will play against Batoto ba Mungu at Kasarani Annex.
Shabana vs Gor Mahia
Shabana will host Gor Mahia in what is a highly anticipated match for the midweek. K’Ogalo‘s primary target is a win in order to close in on Rangers, while Tore Bobe would want to avoid another defeat in order to ease pressure on themselves after the huge defeat to Ulinzi.
On Thursday, November 2, there will only be one game with ambitious high-flying Mailmen travelling to Bukhungu to battle Kakamega Homeboyz.
