Gor Mahia midfielder addresses challenge of playing in Dandora’s artificial pitch
By Luke Oluoch, October 5, 2025Gor Mahia’s midfielder Enock Morrison has addressed the ongoing concern of playing on artificial grass, days after coach Charles Akonnor expressed similar concerns with the Dandora stadium venue.
K’Ogalo are set to host KCB at the stadium for the FKF Premier League matchday three fixture.
Speaking on Saturday, October 4, 2025, the midfield dynamite admitted that he prefers playing on natural grass but urged the team to adjust its sails for the match against KCB.
Adjustments
“As a player, you have to adapt to any pitch you have to play in. Dandora is an artificial pitch, unlike Kasarani, which is natural. Players prefer natural pitch, so we have to adapt to the Dandora pitch, which we have to play in,” he said.
He also revealed the aspect the team struggled with following a poor start that saw them lose their opening tie to Bidco United.
“We did not start very well as we expected as a team, but we picked up well in the second game, and since then, we have been doing our best to continue on the winning ways,” he said.
Concerns about Dandora venue
“If you look at our first game, our finish was not that good. In our second game, we were able to score two, and it was a positive thing. We know everybody is expecting a lot from us. We urge the fans to continue their support; we promise them that we will continue to win games for them,” he added.
Morrison’s remarks come after coach Akonnor also expressed concerns about playing at the Dandora venue.

Speaking on Friday, October 3, 2025, the gaffer described Dandora Stadium as an unfavourable venue for the clash.
”Of course, it is not favourable for both teams; the pitch is slippery, the players are not comfortable demonstrating what their coaches have taught them, and so it is not the best,” Akonnor said.
Heading to the fixture, Gor will be seeking to continue its good spell at the venue. The deposed champions earned their first league win of the season in a 2-0 victory over Sofapaka in the matchday 2 fixtures.
Gor Mahia skipper Alpha Onyango is convinced preparations have been made well for the particular outing. In his remarks ahead of the crunch tie against the Bankers, who are guided by veteran tactician Robert (The Lion) Matano, Onyango is wary of the threat Matano’s charges pose but believes coach Charles Akonnor’s men are equal to the task.
”I think we have trained well for the upcoming match, and I also believe we will try our best to win the match. Obviously, it will not be an easy fixture. We know our opponent; they have won their two matches, but since we also won our previous match, there is renewed confidence, and there is a feeling we will emerge victorious,” Onyango noted.
