The FKF Leagues and Competitions Committee has announced its decision following the chaotic goalless draw between Gor Mahia and Murang’a Seal.
In its ruling, the committee has fined Gor Mahia Ksh 500,000 and has issued a directive that they play their next five home matches in an empty stadium.
Gor Mahia expected to enforce directive
Gor Mahia shall solely be responsible for ensuring the fans do not access their venues.
“Gor Mahia shall play their next five (5) home FKF Premier League matches in an empty stadium. The club shall be responsible for the enforcement of this direction. Gor Mahia shall pay a fine of KES 500,000,” the ruling states.
In addition to the fine, Gor Mahia are tasked with addressing damages in the stadium and covering the medical costs for the injured match official.
“Gor Mahia shall cater or refund for incurred medical costs by match officials. Gor Mahia shall bear the costs of all the damages incurred by the stadium as shall be determined by Sports Kenya,” the ruling reveals.
Despite these penalties, the committee confirmed that Gor Mahia will not face a points deduction, and the result of the match stands, with both teams sharing the spoils.
No deductions for Gor Mahia
“The result of the FKF Premier League Round 11 match no. 96 will stand,” the ruling emphasizes.
Gor Mahia retains the right to appeal this decision under the FKF Regulations.
This ruling comes after Gor Mahia were slapped with a fine of over Ksh1.9 million and banned from playing at Moi International Sports Centre Kasarani following fans’ violent behaviour during their last weekend’s match against Murang’a Seal.
