Gor Mahia duo in FKF Premier League matchday 2 dream team

The FKF Premier League organizers have unveiled the Team of the Week for matchday two following the weekend’s fixtures with Gor Mahia duo being included after missing out last weekend.

In the goalkeeping position, John Njau earned recognition as the standout goalkeeper of matchday two, having secured a clean sheet during Posta Rangers’ 3-0 victory over Kenya Police FC at Police Sacco Stadium.

The central defensive positions feature Kennedy Otieno of Posta Rangers, who has earned his place in the Team of the Week for the second consecutive week with another clean sheet against Police FC, as well as Bandari’s Edward Satulo.

The fullbacks in the team include Gor Mahia’s Godfrey Ochieng and Posta Rangers’ Elvis Osok. In central midfield, Kariobangi Sharks’ Kevin Imbali and Gor Mahia’s Kevin Juma, who netted the winning goal against Ulinzi Stars, make the cut.

Shabana’s Justine Omwanda and Bandari’s Hassan Abdallah are the attacking midfielders featured in the Team of the Week.

KCB’s Derrick Otanga, who scored the winning goal in their match against AFC Leopards, and Titus Kapchanga, whose goal propelled Muranga to the top of the table, complete the lineup.

John Kamau has been recognized as the Coach of the Week after guiding his team to the most significant win of the week.

Gor Mahia and co set for break

The league is currently on a short break to allow teams to release their players for international duty.

Harambee Stars have commenced preparations for upcoming international friendly matches against Qatar and South Sudan.

The team is scheduled to depart for Qatar on Wednesday, September 6, 2023, at 1 a.m., in preparation for their first friendly match on Thursday, September 7, 2023, in Doha.

After the match, Harambee Stars will return home on Friday, September 8, 2023, ahead of their second friendly against South Sudan, set for September 12, 2023.

These friendly matches are considered crucial preparations for the upcoming competitive assignment, the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.

Harambee Stars have been placed in Group F, alongside Seychelles, Burundi, Gambia, Gabon, and Côte d’Ivoire.

The first leg of the two-legged qualifiers is scheduled to be played between November 13 and 21, 2023.
