Gor Mahia coach expresses gratitude to fans after Mashemeji Derby win

Gor Mahia’s head coach, Johnathan McKinstry, has expressed his gratitude to the fans for their overwhelming support during the Mashemeji Derby match against AFC Leopards at Moi International Stadium in Kasarani.

The highly anticipated match drew an impressive crowd of over 12,000 fans, witnessing Gor Mahia FC secure a 2-0 victory that narrowed the gap between them and Posta Rangers to just four points.

Taking to his X account, McKinstry extended his heartfelt thanks to the thousands of fans who turned up for the Mashemeji Derby.

He acknowledged the significant role their support played in motivating the players to achieve a memorable win, emphasizing his delight in providing the fans with a reason to celebrate.

With their sights set on their upcoming match against Tusker FC, the coach is eager to build on this victory and continue their strong performance in the league.

“Thank you to all the fans who came out in their thousands on Saturday for the #MashemejiDerby. Your support drives players and staff forward, and we are pleased to be able to give you a result to celebrate. See you all again in 2 weeks vs. Tusker FC,” McKinstry stated.

Gor Mahia on 12 points

As the league heads into the international break, Gor Mahia stands at 12 points after securing three wins and three draws in their first six matches of the season.

They remain one of the only two unbeaten teams in the league, with Posta Rangers being the other. Gor Mahia has found the back of the net 10 times while conceding four goals and keeping just two clean sheets this season.
