Former Gor Mahia head coach Frank Nuttall has expressed his interest in taking over the Harambee Stars job.
The head coach position at the national team fell vacant after Engin Firat resigned in December 2024 following a disappointing tenure at the helm. Nuttall, an experienced tactician who has handled both national and club coaching roles, said he has already expressed his interest to the Football Kenya Federation (FKF).
“I am interested in the Harambee Stars head coach job, and I have informed the FKF of my desire and motivation to lead the team,” Nuttall said as quoted by a local publication.
Asked why he would like to take over as Harambee Stars coach, the Scottish tactician pointed to his success when he was Gor Mahia’s head coach.
“I had unmatched success in Kenya and continue to monitor and assess the national team’s performance and players,” he added.
Future of Kenyan football
With a new administration at FKF, Nuttall, 56, believes there is a brighter future for the Kenyan soccer.
“Mariga is someone who has international exposure and has played football globally. With his mindset, connections, and desire to improve things, I believe he will do a good job at the federation,” he added.
Mariga was elected as the FKF Vice President after Hussein Mohammed won the election in December 2024.
