Football fans troop back to stadiums after virus recedes

March 27 2021, marked an unfortunate day not only in football but other disciplines as well as it was the day when President Uhuru Kenyatta suspended all sporting activities as part of the government’s efforts to control the spread of the COVID-19 virus.
There was a relief of sorts when the government allowed resumption of sports in empty stadiums besides setting conditions of strict adherence to the Covid-19 protocols.
This would later change when FKF allowed a maximum of 40 fans in the stadium to protect the match officials, players and technical bench members from contracting the virus.
During the pandemic many football clubs started using different platforms to encourage and lure fans back to the stadium.
For a club like Bandari football club, their media team decided to use social media handles for both Facebook and twitter to hype their games. Moreover, they also did minute by minute updates during their live matches thus encouraging fans to participate by being part of the conversations in their socials. After the COVID-19 curve took a turn for the better and rules were relaxed, there has been heavy sigh of relief by clubs as fans return to the stadia in droves to cheer their favourite team.
Robert Aussiems coached AFC had earlier expressed concern with the low morale of playing in empty galleries but now is among the teams celebrating the return of fans on the terraces.
