Showdown looms as Murang’a Seal insist on Mohammed’s representation during FKF AGM

Premier League side Murang’a Seal has insisted that they will be represented by Hussein Mohammed during the upcoming Football Kenya Federation annual general meeting.

The federation’s secretary general, Barry Otieno, stated in a letter that Mohammed will not attend the Saturday meeting because he is ineligible to do so, a stance that the club opposes.

“Following a comprehensive review of the registration documents and other details thereof regarding Murang’a Seal submitted in compliance with Article L02 and L03 of the FKF Club lincensing Regulations and Article 54 and 55 of the CAF men’s club lincensing regulations (2022) attached for your reference, we would like to inform you that Hussein Mohammed is not registered with FKF as a member of Murang’a Seal or FKF general, in accordance with Article 11 of the FKF constitution (2017) and Article 8.1.4 of the FKF regulations governing Kenyan football (2019),” the Otieno letter read in part.

Seal’s response

In response, Seal’s chairman, Robert Macharia, insisted that they would be represented by Mohammed.

“FKF asked for a representative for the AGM, and ours is Hussein Mohammed, the Vice Chairman. It’s not up to them to decide who represents us,” Macharia said, as quoted by a local publication.

Macharia poked holes in the FKF’s stance that disqualified Mohamed from the highly anticipated meeting.

“Club licensing records have nothing to do with the AGM. I have communicated directly with Barry and informed him to exercise courtesy.

“We, Murang’a Seal, have responded officially and made our stance clear. Mr. Hussein Mohammed is our representative for the AGM, and he will attend.

“Even if we decide to send a random flower girl from Murang’a or anyone else to the AGM on Saturday, FKF cannot stop that as long as whoever attends has a letter of authority from the club,” he added.

He further claimed that FKF is trying to micromanage clubs.

“We have bigger issues to address in regards to what is ailing Kenyan football, and that should be the focus for the AGM, not micromanaging clubs,” Macharia concluded.
