Gor Mahia reached the semi-final of the Football Kenya Federation Cup after beating Premier League rivals Kariobangi Sharks 2-0 at Dandora Stadium on Thursday, May 1, 2025.

This means K’Ogalo’s hope for a season double is alive since they are also fighting to defend the Premier League title.

Patrick Essombe, who was signed during the mid-season transfer, scored the opening goal in the 16th minute, and this is his first goal for the Premier League giants.

K’Ogalo doubled their lead when Alpha Onyango scored in the second half. Onyango collected the ball from a pass by Ben Stanley and slammed it home to stun Sharks.

Although head coach Sinisa Mihic had complained of fixture congestion, his side will have to contend with playing more matches within a short period as they chase the season double.

Their league dream received a boost when Kenya Police and Tusker stumbled recently, and that means K’Ogalo are third with 50 points.

Their next opponents are Shabana, and they need the three points in order to take a giant step towards defending the league trophy.

Meanwhile, Nairobi United and Murang’a Seal progressed to the cup semi-final after beating Kakamega Homeboyz and Ulinzi Stars, respectively.
