Faith Kipyegon sends heartfelt message to fans after historic Oregon record
By Aloys Michael, July 6, 2025Kenya’s middle-distance icon Faith Kipyegon has sent a heartfelt message to her fans following the historic 1500m world record.
Kipyegon once again etched her name into the history books, smashing the women’s 1500m world record with a stunning time of 3:48.68 at the 2025 Prefontaine Classic in Eugene, Oregon.
The historic feat marks Kipyegon’s seventh victory at the prestigious meet and reinforces her status as one of the greatest middle-distance runners of all time.
“In life, many times things indirectly come to you. Last week, we dared to try. This week, I was able to break the 1500m world record and win my 7th Prefontaine, a night to remember,” Kipyegon reflected after the race on Sunday, July 6, 2025, on her X account.
The record-breaking run took place under the lights at Hayward Field, a venue that has become something of a spiritual home for the Kenyan star. Kipyegon’s performance thrilled fans and capped off a dominant stretch in her career that has included multiple Olympic and World Championship golds.
“Thank you all for the best support. Visibly emotional. “Hayward is true magic,” she said.

Kipyegon took command of the race from the early laps, setting a blistering pace that none of her competitors could match. With precision, power, and unshakable focus, she stormed past the previous world record of 3:49.11, set by Ethiopia’s Genzebe Dibaba in 2015.
Her latest achievement adds another remarkable chapter to a decorated career that continues to defy expectations. The world record was not just a physical triumph, but a mental and emotional milestone for the two-time Olympic champion.
Fans and fellow athletes around the world praised the performance, noting not only the raw talent Kipyegon possesses but also her unmatched consistency and humility.
Having now conquered nearly every accolade the sport has to offer, Kipyegon remains a model of grace and excellence for aspiring athletes worldwide.
“This was a night to remember,” she said again, beaming as she celebrated with the Kenyan flag draped over her shoulders.
She said the track world turns its eyes to the upcoming World Championships in Tokyo, one thing is certain: Faith Kipyegon is not done making history.
