Cherono Kandie and People Daily’s Kamakya among the winners awarded

A total of 32 motor riders were honoured by the Motorcycle Sports Federation of Kenya at the weekend for their exemplary performance in various categories of competitive races last season.
The riders ranging from Peewee Class to Masters Class in the 2021 season savoured a colorful decoration gala held at the MSFK offices in Lavington, Nairobi.
Some of the key awards on offer were the Lady Rider of the Season which went to the impressive Natalie Cherono, Meritorious Trophy which was awarded to Tanav Choda and Most Improved Rider Award which was bagged by Alexander D’Souza.
In his maiden speech, newly elected chairman of the federation, Mutahi Warithi hinted that better things are in the offing for riders who excel in future races, adding that there were valuable lessons that were picked last year.
“2021 was challenging for everybody including Motocross but we soldiered on .I want to congratulate all winners and emphasize that the Motocross family is growing because even last year we had additional riders joining. This year we hope we can hold the two legs of the Ugandan and Kenyan combined race since last year both countries were on lock-down, “he told the Press on the sidelines of the event.
Better season
Meanwhile, a beaming Cherono believes she will have a better season and greater competition.” Last year was a bit challenging but the lessons learned will be invaluable moving forward. This year, we have begun well and I hope to go all the way and win the Championship. My appreciation to my family and friends for their support.”
Others who were awarded include Thuku Waweru ( MX-50 class), Wahome Mutahi (Mx-65 class) ,Tanav Choda (MX-85 Class), Tai Wahome (MX-125 class) ,Dylan Mutahi (MX-2 Class) and Walter Kuria (MX-1 Class).
In the Enduro National Championship, Zane Young emerged the winner in the Gold Class while Ryan Anthony took home the Silver Class award as Michael Ogwapit won the Bronze Class in addition to his victory in the Vet/Masters Class.
