Charles Bruno targets top-flight return as new MOFA head coach
By Luke Oluoch, July 26, 2025Charles Bruno has set a target of leading MOFA to the Football Kenya Federation Premier League as he takes over the reins at the NSL outfit.
Speaking following his confirmation as the club’s new head coach on Friday, July 25, 2025, Bruno termed the new challenge as another opportunity to further his passion.
The former Kisumu AllStars trainer, who also had stints with Kenyan national team youth sides, backed himself for the task.
Aim for Promotion
“It is a competitive league, and we will be here to compete. It won’t be a walk in the park, and we need to work hard every day,” he said.
While admitting the task ahead, Bruno reiterated his commitment to work towards the target.
“As any other club, as the league starts, they aim for promotion. We have that as our objective. We know what we have to do: take each game at a time, show up every day, and try to get it done,” he stated.
Bruno’s arrival at the club coincides with the departure of two of the club attackers who recently secured trials stints abroad.

The Michael Olunga Foundation club recently announced that two of its attackers were scheduled for trials abroad in Sweden.
The Michael Olunga-owned club revealed that the players were scheduled for trials with IF Vasalund.
“Our centre forwards, Rodgers Ouma and Lawrence Ouma Okoth, will be traveling to Sweden on Monday after securing their visas. The duo is set to train with Vasalunds IF, with a strong possibility of signing for the club. We’re proud of them and wish them the very best. Lawrence notably stood out during the recent U-20 AFCON tournament held in Egypt,” the team statement read.
Lawrence was a standout performer for Kenya’s U20 team in the AFCON games a couple of months ago, notching goals in Kenya’s group ties.
Trials to Kenyan prospects
The Stockholm-based club has had a long-standing association with Kenyan academies and clubs, having offered trials for a number of Harambee Stars internationals, such as Eric Ouma, Johanna Eric, and Ovella Ochieng, among others.
The session proved to open doors for the stars who used the chance as a springboard to launch their respective careers.
