Butali Warriors: Aura will add value to coaching team

By , January 21, 2020

Kenya Hockey Union (KHU) men’s Premier League champions Butali Warriors believe promoting former Kenyan international Zack Aura to the technical bench will be good for the club.

Team manager Kamal Sembi says Aura will team up with Godfrey Wakachunga in the coaching department in a season the club will be targeting to win a third straight league crown.

Sembi says the priority of the club will be to defend their title rather than trying to go the whole season unbeaten like last year.

“We will be giving more details on the technical bench and the players we have signed soon,” said Sembi.

Meanwhile, Wakachunga believes Aura will add value to the four-time champions.

Says he: “It’s true Aura will have a coaching role and could even be the head coach. He is a former team Kenya captain who comes on board with a lot of experience, having coached Strathmore women’s team Scorpions at some point.”

With the transfer window having closed yesterday, People Sport has learnt that Kenyan international Clayson Luvanda was the first signing for the champions.

Luvanda, previously with Greensharks, is one of the new players expected to play for Butali when the new season gets underway on February 29.

The sugar millers will also have the services of former Kenyatta University player Dave Makori who moved to the club last season but never played since they had surpassed their quarter of new signings.
