Blazers clinch commanding victory over Zetech Titans in national league
Blazers basketball team dominated the court, securing an 89-71 victory over Zetech Titans in a thrilling Kenya National Basketball League fixture at Nyayo Stadium Gymnasium at the weekend.
Displaying an impressive performance throughout the game, Blazers maintained their lead in all but the third quarter (20-17/29-10/18-26/22-18), propelling them to an important win and elevating their standings.
Brian Busu and Eric Gundo proved pivotal for Blazers, jointly contributing 52 points, while Keith Okola, James Madjok, and Robert Odhiambo led the charge for Zetech Titans, combining for 42 points.
In another intense matchup, at the same venue, Equity Dumas emerged victorious, defeating Eldonet Platinum 70-54 in a battle marked by physicality and speed. With Marlon Odhiambo at the helm, Dumas displayed urgency on both ends of the court, effectively stifling Eldonet’s offensive efforts. Thomas Kioko, Joshua Kisali, and Paddy Owuor shone for Equity Dumas, contributing significantly to their team’s triumph.
Meanwhile, in the Men’s Division, defending champions KPA (Ports Authority) demonstrated their prowess by overpowering University of Nairobi Terror 73-49. The Dockers, under the guidance of Coach Sam Kiki, dominated all quarters (17-13/13-11/21-13/22-14), with Benjamin Muga, Eugene Phillips, Mmadou Naidara, Tobias Odhiambo, and Job Byron delivering a combined total of 48 points.
Despite the valiant efforts of UON Terror’s Dominic Adero, David Ochieng, Agulet Malek, and Spencer William, KPA’s cohesive offensive and defensive strategy proved insurmountable for the university side.
In the Women’s Division, former powerhouses Eagle Wings secured a convincing 50-26 win over Kenya College of Accountancy (KCA-U) in a one-sided encounter at Strathmore University Grounds. Eagle Wings maintained their lead in all quarters (09-07/11-02/17-13/13-04), with Jennifer Opiyo, Faith Kwamboka, and Rose Mshilla contributing a combined total of 24 points to propel their team to victory.
