Nakuru Racing Club driver Issa Amwari is confident of a trouble-free experience from the starting to finishing point during the World Rally Championships-Safari Rally after getting into a partnership a with gaming firm.

The 37-year-old is now secured of spares of his 2011 Mitsubishi Evolution 10 R4 car, fuel and accommodation for the four-day event starting June 23-26.

Amwari has participated in only one event this year – the Mogotio leg of the Kenya National Rally Championships.

“For one to win, you have to race to the finishing point and that’s what I am targeting in the rally. The team has worked hard around the car and we want to thank our partners for the support.

“Indeed, the opportunity to run in this event is huge and I am very grateful. We will work hard to deliver a good race,” he said during the launch of the partnership with the gaming firm at Parklands Sports Club yesterday.

Amwari added that he has struggled in the past to get financial assistance and that this year, the doors have opened for him.

“It has not been easy for us because the sport is expensive but I believe this partnership we are having will certainly bring more openings for us.

“We will know our set-up then because Recce takes place on Saturday. We have dismantled the car apart and rebuilt everything including installing new parts and working on tyre pressure and ground clearance. It is now all about composure, calmness and concentration.”
