With Mara Sugar FC and Mathare United FC already qualified for the 2024/25 FKF-Premier League, all eyes now shift to the playoffs to settle the remaining business for this calendar year in the National Super League (NSL).

Mara and Mathare are still battling for the top spot and the title, with only two points separating them and two matches remaining.

The Sugar men, currently leading the standings, dispatched Kibera Black Stars 1-0 to reach 81 points, while second-placed Mathare beat Darajani Gogo FC 3-0 to end the round on 79 points after Round 36.

Meanwhile, Naivas FC and Nairobi United are fiercely competing for third place and promotion to the Premiership.

The two teams are separated by just one point, setting up a tense showdown until the season’s conclusion.

Next up, Naivas faces relegated Gusii FC, while Nairobi United hosts the tricky Migori Youth FC in matches that will likely determine their fate this coming weekend.

In their final fixtures, Naivas will travel to face Coastal side SS Assad, with Nairobi United taking on relegation-bound Silibwet Leons FC.

Interestingly, both teams have an identical number of wins (20), but they are separated by a goal difference of (+2). Throughout the campaign, both sides have been successful, collectively losing only 13 games and conceding 61 goals in total.

Nairobi United, newcomers who were promoted just last year after winning the 2022/23 FKF-Division One Zone A title, have won five of their last 10 matches.

In their latest game, United secured a 3-1 away victory against Gusii FC, mirroring Naivas’ identical scoreline away at Silibwet Leons. Notably, Mara has only managed three wins in their last 10 matches.
