By , October 1, 2023

AFC Leopards and Shabana FC are set to face off at Ulinzi Complex on Sunday at 3:00 p.m in a highly anticipated FKF Premier League match, both teams keen on securing their first win of the season.

This match will be the fourth round of the FKF Premier League and will bring together sides that have endured a difficult start.

AFC Leopards’ form

Under the guidance of coach Tom Juma, AFC Leopards have had a challenging start to the season, putting pressure on the team following their change in leadership after the departure of Belgian coach Patrick Aussems.

While they remain unbeaten at home, AFC Leopards have yet to secure a victory, with their home matches yielding neither goals nor points.

On the road, they suffered a loss to KCB and managed a 2-2 draw against Kenya Police. AFC Leopards have scored two goals and conceded three this season, currently sitting in 15th place with just three points.

The team is determined to end their winless streak to avoid sliding into the danger zone.

The newly promoted Shabana FC are also on the hunt for their first win of the season. While they have played only one away match, which ended in a draw against FC Talanta, Shabana have had three home matches, resulting in one loss and two draws.

A concerning trend for the team is that all the goals they’ve conceded this season have come during stoppage time, a trend they hope to reverse in upcoming matches.

Sammy Okoth’s charges are eager to secure their first victory and improve their position in the league.

Head-to-Head: AFC Leopards and Shabana FC have not faced off in recent competitive matches, as they have been in different leagues.

Their most recent encounter saw Shabana FC secure a 1-0 victory over AFC Leopards in the Mashujaa Day Cup at Gusii Stadium in Kisii.

Striker Fred Nyakundi netted the decisive goal in the 34th minute, heading home a well-delivered cross from Peter Ogechi.
