AFC Leopards fire Tom Juma, reappoint Tomas Trucha

Struggling Football Kenya Federation Premier League side AFC Leopards have reappointed Tomas Trucha as head coach.
Trucha’s return to the Den was made possible following the departure of Tom Juma. Juma had been in charge of the club since his appointment in July, but following a series of poor performances, he was shown the door.
Trucha returns to AFC Leopards after his short stint in 2020. Then, the Czech citizen was in charge of the local giants for over a month.
“AFC Leopards Sports Club is pleased to announce the appointment of Tomas Trucha as head coach for two football seasons (2023/2024 and 2024/2025).
“Tomas Trucha, a Czech national, is the holder of a UEFA Pro license. He was, until recently, head coach of Kelantan United in Malaysia.
“This is his second stint with AFC Leopards SC after being here for a short period in the year 2020. We wish them the best of luck as they take over their new roles at the club,” AFC Leopards’ statement, signed by club Secretary General Gilbert Andugu, read.
Juma’s poor season
Juma’s last game was a 2-0 loss to Gor Mahia during this season’s first Mashemeji Derby. Despite continued support from the club’s hierarchy, Juma failed to turn the negative tide, as he managed only four draws and two losses and was without a win in six games.
The former Kenya international left Ingwe in the relegation zone, and Trucha is expected to help them rise from the second-last place.
Other technical bench members who have left Ingwe are goalkeeper’s trainer Lawrence Webo and physiotherapist Bonaventure Odire.
The next match for AFC Leopards will be against Bandari, who have also struggled in the league.
