AFC Leopards fall to Bidco United in Murang’a 

AFC Leopards’ season struggle continued with yet another defeat after suffering a 2-1 Football Kenya Federation Premier League loss to Bidco United in Murang’a on Sunday, December 10, 2023.

Ingwe remain with only one victory, which was registered against Nzoia Sugar at Sudi Stadium at the end of October.

Meanwhile, Victor Otieno, famously known as Aguero, made a threatening move in the 11th minute, but there was no one to tap home his precise low cross.

Luke Namanda made a vital intervention to deny Bidco’s Peter Nzuki. The former Nakumatt FC midfielder spotted AFC Leopards’ goalkeeper Humphrey Katasi off his line and attempted to beat him from a distance, but Namanda was aware of the danger and reacted to clear it.

Bidco’s goalkeeper, John Otieno, made vital saves in the 29th and 30th minutes to deny Boniface Munyendo and Musa Oundo.

At the end of the first half, none of the teams had made any meaningful impact from their chances, and the scoreline remained goalless.

Sheriff Musa almost broke the deadlock early in the second half, but Katasi saved the day for AFC Leopards.

Goals

A 59th-minute combination between Musa and Chris Opondo resulted in a goal that was scored by the former. Opondo spotted Musa in a good goalscoring position, and the striker did well by beating his markers and slotting home for the opener.

In the 61st minute, Musa got his name on the scorer’s chart after another magnificent move that Ingwe’s failed to counter.

The two quick goals made coach Tomas Trucha make two changes, as he brought on Victor Omune and Jaffery Owiti in place of Otieno and Munyendo. The change had a tangible impact, as Omune scored in the 71st minute.

There were fears the game might be called off when AFC Leopards staged a prolonged protest against what they believed was poor officiating.

When the game resumed, Bidco United held on tight to secure the win and the three points, despite the fact that they were reduced to ten men after Michael Bodo was sent off.
