President William Ruto on Wednesday, July 24, 2024, announced the names of the second batch of individuals nominated for consideration and approval by the National Assembly for appointment as Cabinet Secretary during a press briefing held at StateHouse, Nairobi.

The announcement comes days after Ruto named CS nominees for the first batch.

Here is the full list of the second batch of individuals nominated for the CS position in the new Cabinet.

1. Ministry of Defence: Hon. Roselinda Soipan Tuya  

2. Ministry of Environment, Climate Change and Forestry: Aden Barre Duale

  3. The National Treasury and Economic Planning: John Mbadi Ng’ongo  

4. Ministry of Investments, Trade and Industry: .Salim Mvurya Mgala  

5. Ministry of Tourism and Wildlife: Rebecca Miano  

6. Ministry of Energy and Petroleum: James Opiyo Wandayi 

  7. Ministry of Youth Affairs, Creative Economy and Sports: Onesimus Kipchumba Murkomen

  8. Ministry of Mining, Blue Economy and Maritime Affairs: Hassan Ali Joho

9. Ministry of Labour and Social Protection: Dr Alfred Nganga Mutua  

10. Ministry of Co-operatives and Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) Development. Wycliffe Ambetsa Oparanya   

11. Ministry of Public Service and Human Capital Development: Justin Bedan Muturi

  12. Ministry of Gender, Culture, the Arts and Heritage: Stella Soi Lang’at.

Broad-based cabinet

On July 19, 2024, President William Ruto, during a press briefing revealed the national government’s plans to form a new broad-based cabinet that will help in the irreversible transformation in the country.

“Consequently, I have started the process of forming a new, broad-based cabinet to assist me in driving the urgently needed and irreversible transformation of our country. I hereby nominate the following first batch of 11 individuals for consideration and approval by the National Assembly for appointment as Cabinet Secretaries and Attorney General,” Ruto said.
