Deputy President William Ruto has criticised President Uhuru Kenyatta for sacking Commissioner-General of Prisons Service Wycliffe Ogalo.

Ruto blamed Interior bosses Fred Matiang’i and Karanja Kibicho for the escape of three terrorist suspects at Kamiti Maximum Prison this week.

“They (Kibicho and Matiang’i) have become Raila Odinga’s youth wingers instead of protecting Kenyans,” Ruto said during a political rally in Runyenjes.

The three suspects namely Musharraf Abdalla, Joseph Juma and Mohammed Abdi were arrested in Kitui on Friday while they were on their way to Somalia.

The arrest ended the three-day manhunt.

They were then flown to Kamiti Maximum Prison where they will be held before they are arraigned to face escape charges.
