‘Republican policies are always better for Africa’ – MP Ndindi Nyoro celebrates Trump’s victory

Kiharu Member of Parliament (MP) Ndindi Nyoro has congratulated Donald Trump on his successful campaign to become the President of the United States.

It became clear that Trump is heading back to the White House after beating Kamala Harris after the conclusion of voting on November 5, 2024.

In his congratulatory message, the Kenyan MP said that Republican policies towards Africa have always been good.

“Congratulations, President Donald Trump, the 45th and 47th. Republican policies have always been better for Africa and the Global South.

“The global economy will definitely be better with imminent monetary easing under Trump. Hongera USA. We are African, and Africa is our business,” Nyoro said in a statement on X posted on Wednesday, November 6, 2024.

Trump has garnered 276 electoral college votes against Harris who has 223.

Trump’s speech

After his victory became clear, Trump appeared to address the Americans and asked them to help him heal the country.

“I will fight for you and your family and your future, every single day I will be fighting for you with every breath in my body.

“We overcame obstacles that no one thought possible. We’re going to help our country heal, we have a country that needs help and it needs help very badly,” he said.

World reacts

British Prime Minister Keir Starmer said Trump’s victory is historic and he is looking forward to working with the new president.

“Congratulations president-elect Trump on your historic election victory. I look forward to working with you in the years ahead. As the closest of allies, we stand shoulder-to-shoulder in defence of our shared values of freedom, democracy and enterprise.

“From growth and security to innovation and tech, I know that the UK-US special relationship will continue to prosper on both sides of the Atlantic for years to come,” Starmer said.

Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelenskyy also welcomed the change in presidency in the US and said that the European nation is ready to work with the Americans.

“We look forward to an era of a strong United States of America under President Trump’s decisive leadership. We rely on continued strong bipartisan support for Ukraine in the United States. We are interested in developing mutually beneficial political and economic cooperation that will benefit both of our nations.

“Ukraine, as one of Europe’s strongest military powers, is committed to ensuring long-term peace and security in Europe and the Transatlantic community with the support of our allies. I am looking forward to personally congratulating President Trump and discussing ways to strengthen Ukraine’s strategic partnership with the United States,” Zelenskyy said.

Meanwhile, Harris is the second woman to lose to Trump, eight years after Hillary Clinton was beaten by the Republican.
