ODM leader Raila Odinga now says he is not interested in getting a political endorsement from President Uhuru Kenyatta.

Speaking to a local radio station on Thursday morning, the ODM chief said he will only be seeking President Uhuru’s vote in the event he runs for the presidency in the 2022 General Elections.

According to Raila, he has never sought political endorsement in his life and he is not going to do so anytime soon.

“I don’t need anyone’s endorsement because I have never done so in my political career. My political career has been characterized by service delivery to the people and not an endorsement,” he said in an interview with Radio Citizen.

“I don’t need Uhuru’s endorsement. But I will ask for Uhuru’s vote if I ran for the presidency in the forthcoming General Elections,” he added

The ODM boss also maintained that he is yet to decide whether he will run for the top seat or not.

He says he will talk about his 2022 plans once the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) referendum comes to pass.

Raila said he is confident that the BBI appeal will sail through and the country will soon have a chance to vote for or against the new constitution.

“We are still working on the BBI because we want to unite the nation and better the lives of Kenyans. When the right time comes, I will decide if I will contest for the presidential seat because that is my right and nobody can stop me from doing so,” he said.

Raila’s Handshake with President Uhuru gave birth to the BBI which recommended a referendum to change the structure of leadership among other issues.

The BBI course was, however, dealt a blow by the High Court after it was declared null and void.

A five-judge bench also issued a permanent injunction against the IEBC from making any preparations regarding the BBI referendum.

The ruling was appealed by the parties involved.

The Court of Appeal is expected to give the ruling on the case on August
