Kakamega Senator Cleophas Malala says legislation on gaming should protect betting firms against rogue government agencies.
Malala also challenged the government to infuse youthful leadership in sports management. He said the youth has the talent and skill to lead the sports authority.
He faulted the government for entrusting sports management in the old guards, resulting in the current downward spital for most sports disciplines.
Speaking on the sidelines of the finals if the Cleo Malala super cup soccer tournament whose lead sponsor is gaming firm Betika, Malala said sports was hitting from punitive taxation regime.
He claimed the taxation hardly affords gaming firms extra resources to invest in the sports sector and expressed hope the bill before Parliament would improve the working environment for players in the industry.
“The current taxation regime limits firms turnover and profited resulting in negligible investment in talent search activities and sports development.
