President Uhuru Kenyatta has summoned elected leaders drawn from his political backyard for a meeting at State House.

In a text message seen by The People Daily Digital, President Uhuru is inviting all Governors, MPs and Senators irrespective of their political affiliations to a meeting scheduled for Friday, March 18 mid-morning.

“Good evening Mheshimiwa, I wish to invite you for a meeting of all MPs, Senators and Governors from the Mt Kenya region at State House Nairobi on Friday, 18th March 2022 from 10 am. Kindly confirm your attendance now,” the text message read.

Kiambu Senator Kimani Wamatangi, one of the political bigwigs who recently decamped to Ruto’s side, had confirmed receiving the message but maintained that they are yet to know the agenda of the meeting.

“I received a text this morning that invites me to the State House. The text is worded noting that it invites elected leaders from the Mt Kenya region from Senators to Members of Parliament,” Wamatangi said.

Though the details of the meeting were not issued, it is believed that the president will try to use the meeting to convince the leaders to rally behind his preferred successor, ODM leader Raila Odinga.
