President Uhuru Kenyatta has on Friday, January 28 convened a National Security Council meeting.

Uhuru will be meeting regional police commander, regional commissioners, inteligence officials and county commanders to discuss election preparedness and other security issues.

The Friday meeting comes barely 24 hours after Western countries issued a terror attack alert to her citizens residing in Kenya.

According to the French and UK embassies in Kenya, terrorists are targeting foreign nationals who frequent public places.

“Those in Kenya are advised to exercise vigilance and avoid frequenting some of these public places in the coming days,” the alert read.

The public places include restaurants, hotels, malls and supermarkets.

On Wednesday, January 26, a team of court officials were shot at and injured by Alshabab militants.

Police say the militants attacked the vehicle used by the court officials while they were enroute to Garsen town from Kipini Mobile Court.

Those in the vehicle were the driver, Garsen Law Courts Senior Principal Magistrate Paul Rotich, court prosecutor, court assistant, a clerk and two police officers.

In response, Chief Justice Martha Koome said the Judiciary values the safety of its workers adding that her administration will ensure their safety is well taken care off.

“I am informed that the injured judicial officers are in stable condition and are being given utmost medical care. I render our sincere gratitude to the Inspector General of Police and his team for responding to the incident wthout delay,” she said.
