President William Ruto has announced another state address scheduled for Thursday, July 11, 2024.

In a notice shared by State House Press Secretary Emmanuel Talam, President Ruto's address will commence at 2:00 P.M.

Talam added that the State of the Nation address will be staged at State House, Nairobi. The State House Spokesperson also confirmed the scheduled address.

"President William Ruto to address the nation at 2pm, at State House, Nairobi," Hussein Mohamed wrote on his X page on Thursday, July 11, 2024.

Talam directed journalists and media houses interested in covering the event to seek approval from a designated person at State House Nairobi.

However, the notice did not disclose the agenda of President William Ruto at State House.

Debate on Cabinet reshuffle

The address comes amidst pressure from a section of Kenyans on President Ruto to fire some of his Cabinet Secretaries.

Nonetheless, some of the Cabinet Secretaries have come out to defend themselves amidst what looks like an expected reshuffle.

On Wednesday July 10, 2024, Transport Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen told a local publication that he hopes his achievements at the docket will help him survive the expected purge.

"It is only my hope that the work I have done in the last two years will speak for me," Murkomen stated.

Defence Cabinet Secretary Aden Duale on the other hand had earlier stated that he is ready to step aside if Ruto decides that he is derailing his government's ambition.

"If the President feels I have let him down as Minister for Defence I want him to do the right thing. Start with me and all the rest who have let him down in the interest of all the people of Kenya and tell us to step aside to have a new team. I am ready, look at me, quote me," Duale stated during an interview on a local TV station.

Apart from the Cabinet reshuffle, most Kenyans will be keen to see if Ruto will implement more austerity measures after he declined to assent to the Finance Bill 2024.

Reaction to dialogue

Apart from the cabinet reshuffle, the issue of a multi-sectoral dialogue forum has dominated the headlines this week. The Head of State announced that over 150 people will convene starting Monday July 15, 2024 for the talks.

However, several leaders have opposed the talks arguing President William Ruto to address the issues raised by Gen Z during their protests.

All eyes will be at State House to see what will be President Ruto's response to their demands.
