President William Ruto has revealed the details of his meeting with Coast leaders at State House, Nairobi.
The head of state met the leaders on Monday, November 25, 2024.
In a statement shared via his official social media accounts, President Ruto pointed out that the progress of the country would be realised when every region contributes meaningfully to its development.
Ruto on Coast region’s potential
According to the first in command, the Coast region holds a vital role in the country’s vision, serving as a cornerstone in achieving Kenya’s shared national dream.
During the meeting, Ruto revealed that he had agreed with the Coast leaders to expedite development projects in the region to unlock its full potential and foster inclusive growth.
“Kenya’s progress will be realised when every region contributes meaningfully to its development. The Coast region holds a vital role in this vision, serving as a cornerstone in achieving our shared national dream. Pleased to meet Coast leaders at State House, Nairobi. We agreed to expedite development projects in the region to unlock its full potential and foster inclusive growth,” Ruto stated.

Leaders in Ruto’s meeting
Mining, Blue Economy, and Maritime Affairs Cabinet Secretary Hassan Joho, Senate Speaker Amason Kingi and the ruling United Democratic Alliance (UDA) Secretary-General are among the leaders who attended the meeting.
Others were lawmakers representing different constituencies from the region.
EAC Games
The Coast region is set to host East African Community (EAC) Inter-Parliamentary Games set to kick off on December 6, 2024, to December 18.
The event will be hosted in Mombasa.
Youth Affairs, Creative Economy and Sports Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen has committed to complete the refurbishment of facilities that are supposed to be used for the event.
National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetang’ula had earlier on expressed confidence that the Parliament of Kenya is not only going to the EAC Inter-Parliamentary Games to win trophies but to also demonstrate its commitment to regional integration of the region to a free movement of people, goods and services.
The event, which seeks to enhance integration through the inter parliamentary games, will be officially opened by President Ruto on December 7, 2024.
