President William Ruto has nominated former Investments, Trade and Industry Cabinet Secretary (CS) Rebecca Miano as Attorney General.

Speaking at State House in Nairobi on Friday, July 19, 2024, when he nominated the first batch of eleven individuals who will form his new cabinet, the president stated that the development marks a significant change in steering the country towards the right direction.

“I have started the process of forming a new, broad-based cabinet to assist me in driving the urgently needed and irreversible transformation of our country. I hereby nominate the following first batch of 11 individuals for consideration and approval by the National Assembly for appointment as Cabinet Secretaries and Attorney General,” Ruto said.

Out of the eleven, six of them including Miano are former Cabinet Secretaries fired last week after weeks of intense protests held by youth across different parts of the country.

The other five include; ex-CSs Kithure Kindiki and Aden Duale who have been nominated as Interior and Defence CSs respectively.

Former CS Roselinda Soipan Tuiya as Environment, Climate Change and Forestry CS, ex-CS Davis Chirchir as Roads and Transport CS, and Alice Wahome as Lands, Public Works, Housing and Urban Development CS.
